Today I am doing abhyanga: body oiling.
In sanskrit the word for oil and the word for love are the same: sneha. Oil is revered in ayurvedic medicine for it’s ability to love the body in so many ways. It nourishes and draws out toxins simultaneously.
If you have ever cleansed your face with oil you would have noticed that it actually works! This is contrary to the belief that I was raised with that oil is dirty. The era of using hardcore cleansers and soaps that strip your skin of of its natural biome is so over.
Abhyanga is the practice of massaging coconut oil or warm sesame oil into your body, leaving it on for 20 minutes and then showering it off. This practice has been used in ayurvedic medicine for aeons to deeply nourish the skin, calm the nervous system, and boost circulation. It reduces stress, enhances lymphatic drainage, and increases joint mobility. Regular practice tones muscles, promotes detoxification, improves sleep quality, and fosters a deep sense of calm.

Enjoy this fascia flossing practice targeting the meridians of the liver and gallbladder for an especially detoxifying practice:
On top of this, If you have the means to book yourself in for a sauna or massage this week, i do recommend it, but absolutely not necessary.
Evening routine
Same as yesterday my love. Candles or soft lighting after dark, swap out that screen time for a book, a ritual out of the booklet, maybe even a card game with your loved ones. Whatever nourishes you. Do your best to be in bed by 10 to give your body the opportunity to cleanse.
As always, listen to your body. Trust your intuition. Go gently.
