Pre-Cleanse Guide
Welcome to the RUMMĀN ayurveda-ish cleanse!
I am so glad that you have chosen to devote this time to care for your body and mind.
Cleanses can be intimidating but this one is designed to be gentle and sweet. It is a cleanse protocol that is both manageable, effective and easy to incorporate into our modern life.
Very different to any other type of cleanse I’ve come across, ayurvedic cleansing is deeply nourishing and life giving. You get to eat a lot so you will not be hungry.
Although our base meal will be kitchari, there are so many variations we can work with and additional meals and snacks so that you will not be bored.
The basis of this cleanse is this: Your body is cleansing and healing every day. We are simply removing the distractions and creating an optimal environment for your body to do it’s job.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not cleanse if:
- You are actively trying to conceive (both men and women).
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are menstruating.
- You have a cold or flu
- You are not in good health or have a heavy buildup of toxicity. If this is you or if you think this may be you, start your journey gradually with smaller daily cleansing protocols so as to not overwhelm the system. It is advised to work 1:1 with a qualified ayurvedic practitioner pre cleanse to know if your body is ready for it.
THE FIRST STEP IS TO SCHEDULE YOUR CLEANSE
Although our group cleanse takes place on the equinox, March 21-25, you have this guide for life and can use it at a time that works best for you. Here are some scheduling considerations if you will not be joining us in real time:
Scheduling is super important. Make sure to find a time to put in your calendar where your schedule is relatively if not completely free. Cancel social activities if possible and make this a time just for you. Cleansing with friends or family members can make it feel more supportive and fun. Autumn and Spring are the ideal times for cleansing, as close to the equinoxes as possible. Winter is not ideal as energetically our bodies want to hold, not to cleanse. Summer is not ideal as our Agni (digestive fire) is at its low and It’s harder to rebuild our Agni after cleansing in summer. Waning moon = time of preparing to shed and release. Ideal for cleansing. However, at the end of the day, the best time to cleanse is whatever suits your personal schedule.
